Recreation Studio

Part of what makes a community great is the availability of places for recreation. If a community is fortunate to couple this as a destination place for tourists the venues become a resource for economic development and stimulus. WMF has a rich tradition in these types of venues and our involvement has made a significant positive impact on the communities we have served.

Waterfront - WMF was instrumental in Erie rediscovering its waterfront. By taking an active development role the firm created several projects that kick-started Bayfront development and today this effort continues as one of Erie’s greatest success stories.

Ski Areas - Part of what makes a ski area great is the availability of amenities that are an extension of the skiing and snowboarding experience. Entertainment venues, lodging and a wide spectrum of dining choices add to the visitor’s enjoyment and position the resort to become a year-round destination place. It is no longer about building an environment – it's about designing an experience. Our clients look for us to assist them in crafting a distinctive solution … to create lodges and a skier services areas that provide unique and memorable encounters … to separate them from the competition. Our designs reflect the image of the mountain, sensitive to localized surroundings. We draw inspiration from the setting and design a solution that has a relationship with place.

Recreation/Community Centers - Recreation Centers and Community Centers provide both a recreational and social outlet for its users. Transparency both exterior and interior define today’s recreation and community center. Exterior transparency is critical to merchandizing the facility. Interior transparency eases operational aspects while creating a sense of vibrancy to the center.

Swimming Pools & Natatorium - Swimming, one of the most popular recreational activities in the country is a fun, active, and healthy way to spend leisure time. Every year, millions of people visit “recreational water” sites, such as swimming pools, water parks, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, or the ocean.

Gymnasiums, Stadiums, Ball Fields - Athletic activities from recreational to professional all demand facilities in alignment with the activity. We have designed and built a number of scholastic gymnasiums, scholastic stadiums, community fields and Jerry Uht Ball Park…home of the Detroit Tigers AA affiliate Erie Seawolves
